Leah Lehmbeck received her Ph.D. in May 2007 from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts where she was awarded both the Lila Acheson Wallace Graduate Fellowship and Dissertation Fellowships, the latter for her thesis “Edouard Manet’s Portraits of Women.” She is a former Bradford and Christine Mishler Curatorial Fellow in American Art at the Huntington Art Collections, San Marino, California. Before beginning her doctorate, she worked in the American Art department at Christie’s, and while working towards her degree she was a co-author of the Harriet Whitney Frishmuth sculpture catalogue (2006). Currently she is an assistant curator at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena.

She received her B.A. from Columbia University in 1997 and lives
in Los Angeles.
